IBM Cloud

We all know about IBM company. In fact it is all over our history in the computer books that we read on school level education. As everyone know, IBM stands for International Business Machines. It is known to produce and invent many of the computer that we know now or were popular in the history.

Some of the major inventions of IBM includes:

  • Floppy disk
  • Hard-drive
  • Magnetic stripe card (seen in our visa/master card in the past)
  • Relational database
  • SQL language
  • UPC barcode
  • Dynamic RAM (D-RAM)

Apart from these popular components that we used, IBM was also known for its mainframe computers during 1960s.

However, ironically, in today's world of cloud computing, many may not be aware that IBM has established its own cloud services in the name of IBM Cloud. Though IBM had started experimenting with virtualization of computer and computing resources long back ago, it placed a firm foot in this sector when it purchased Softlayer company which was known for web hosting and cloud hosting. Now IBM Softlayer firms the basis of IBM cloud infrastructure on which it intends to dominate the market.

In upcoming blog, we will try to cover up the locations where IBM has its data centers for its cloud infrastructure.
